Fort Amherst is Britain's finest Georgian fortress. Here you'll find an impressive gatehouse, tunnel complex, magazines and barracks together with a unique Civil Defence exhibition. The park-like setting within the fortifications is used for exciting historical re-enactments held on most summer Sundays (please phone to confirm) making Fort Amherst an ideal choice for a family day out.
